San Angelo Man Indicted for Brutally Attacking a Woman with a Samurai Sword

SAN ANGELO, TX- A San Angelo man was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for aggravated assault for throwing a woman into a bathtub and holding a samurai sword to her head.

According to court documents, on November 26, 2021, San Angelo police were dispatched to 2644 Sunset Drive regarding a welfare concern. The victim swung open the front door and ran towards the responding officer and was visibly distressed and upset. The victim then told officers that the defendant was inside the residence.

The officers made their way into the dwelling and observed the defendant, identified as Marshall Thomas in the bedroom. Thomas was detained in handcuffs.

After speaking with the victim, officers learned that the victim and Thomas had an argument and the victim attempted to hide, but that Marshall had broken the bathroom door and made entry.

The officers were then informed by the victim that Thomas grabbed her and forced her into the bathtub. Thomas then held a short blade samurai sword to the victim’s right ear and made threats towards her. The victim said she was held in the bathtub for 2 hours and was not allowed to get up.

The responding officers observed a mark inside the victim’s right ear that matched a wound that would be caused by the tip of a blade. The samurai sword was discovered in the residence as well.

Marshall Thomas was booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility on November 27, 2021, is currently still an inmate, and is being held on $60,000.00 bond.

Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon is a first-degree felony which carries a punishment of 5 to 99 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.00.
