MIDLAND, TX- An Arkansas man was sentenced to prison in Midland on Tuesday for a 2018 murder, tampering with a corpse and with evidence.
Back in 2018 on Friday, October 19, Willie Otey Henderson went to his neighbor’s apartment and shot the victim in the stomach. This caused the victim to be paralyzed from the waist down.
Henderson walked over the individual he had just shot and stole phones from the apartment. While leaving the residence, Henderson took the keys to the residence and locked the door which prevented the victim’s body from being found until Sunday afternoon.
Over that weekend, Henderson moved the neighbor’s truck to a different apartment complex and threw the phones he stole into a ditch.
After the victim failed to show up to work and no one was able to get into contact with him, the victim’s brother went to the victim’s apartment and discovered the body.
Police were notified and the investigation revealed Henderson’s DNA on the victim’s phone and the victim’s blood on Henderson’s shoe. Also, the same pair of shoes left shoe prints next to the victim’s body.
Willie Otey Henderson was sentenced to 60 years in prison for murder.
Henderson had prior convictions for sexual and aggravated assault in Arkansas which enhanced the punishment and was given 10 additional years for each tampering charge.
Henderson was just released 5 months prior after serving 14 years in Arkansas on the sexual and aggravated assault charges.
