SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly woke a child up in the early morning and sexually assaulted her.
According to court documents, on Feb. 7 at around 7:15 a.m., an officer with the San Angelo Police Department was dispatched to a residence in San Angelo after a child made an outcry of being sexually assaulted.
Upon arrival the officer spoke with the witness to the outcry. She told the officer that the child claimed that at around 5:30 that morning Nicholas Velasquez, 29, entered the child's room and assaulted her.
She went on to tell police that she confronted Velasquez about the assault. At first he denied it but later admitted to his actions and left the home. After he left the residence he and the witness to the outcry exchanged text messages.
In the texts Velasquez states "I know I did this to myself", "I'm disgusted with myself", and "I'm sorry for ruining everything."
Later at the Hope House the child told officers that she was asleep and was awoken by Velasquez lying on her. At some point, Velasquez allegedly pulled out his male genitals and put it on the child. This is when the child got out of bed and called out for help.
A warrant was then issued and Valasquez was arrested for indecency with a child by sexual contact. He was booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility at 5:18 p.m. on Feb. 7. As of Feb. 9, Velasquez remains in the jail on a $100,000 bond.
