San Angelo Perv Sent to Prison

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – A man from Carlsbad was sent to prison on Friday morning after he pleaded guilty to a number of sexual assault charges.

As previously reported, on Sep. 9, 2020, Joe Landrom Grooms, 67, of Carlsbad, Tx was arrested on accusations of molesting children for an extended period of time. 

Grooms was indicted for continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, indecency with a child by exposure, indecency with a child by sexual contact, and attempting to commit indecency with a child by sexual contact on Nov. 12, 2020.

The indictment alleged that Grooms had sexually assaulted a child multiple times around the time period of Jun. 2020.

After months of court hearings Grooms finally pleaded guilty to the crime on Sep. 2. In exchange for the guilty plea, Grooms received 15 years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice Prison. 

On Nov. 12 at 8:13 a.m., Grooms was handed over to the TDCJ and was released from the Tom Green County Detention Facility. He will get credit for the time he served while in the jail.
