Teen Arrested for Fatally Shooting Juvenile Tripping on Acid

MIDLAND, TX – An 18-year-old Midland man is behind bars after allegedly shooting a Midland teen who was tripping on acid.

According to the Midland Police Department, when officers arrived at the intersection of Hollandale and Parkway they located a deceased teen.

At the scene, officers met with the suspect, Nikolas Moreno, who showed police the location of the victim. Police records indicate the teenage victim had three gunshot wounds to his lower back and one on his side.

Moreno told police the victim, an unidentified juvenile, and himself had been together prior to the shooting. Moreno admitted he provided Acid to the victim and then getting into a pickup truck with the intent to purchase alcohol from a local grocery store.

Moreno described the victim as "tripping out on acid." The unidentified juvenile stated the victim was “tripping on acid and talking about seeing demons."

As the trio made their way to the store, Moreno pulled over and got out of the truck to urinate. The victim then jumped into the driver's seat and attempted to drive away.

Moreno then grabbed hold of the driver's side door and punched the victim. The two then began wrestling over a gun.

The truck would ultimately crash into a ditch –– the impact causing the gun to fall on the floorboard.

According to Moreno, he grabbed his gun and fired it once.

The juvenile told police he made his way into the truck passenger seat and saw Moreno hanging from the driver's side door. The juvenile then used the other firearm to shoot the victim once on his side and three times in the back. He stated they were scared for Moreno's life.

Moreno told police he then grabbed both of the guns and took them to his aunt's home. A search of that house resulted in police locating the firearms.

Moreno has been charged with murder and at this time it is unknown what charges the juvenile may face.
