SAN ANGELO, TX — The Cross Keys Apartments, 1222 S. Abe. St., become a crime scene briefly late Friday night after police responded to a stabbing.
Over the radio, police heard a male victim was stabbed in the chest. An ambulance arrived and rushed the victim to Shannon Medical Center. The situation was thought dire for the victim, and immediately police set up a crime scene, including crime scene tape. Seven San Angelo police cruisers responded, blocking off traffic on the east-most lane of S. Abe. St.
Outside, a woman was being consoled by two other women as she sobbed. Nearby, undercover San Angelo police officers stood by as other scoured an apartment unit at the Cross Keys. A woman was taken into custody and placed in the back of a police car for questioning. The woman claimed to not have anything to do with the incident inside.
Police determined during the course of the investigation that the victim’s stabbing wound was not to his chest, rather to his arm. Furthermore, officers suspected the wound was self-inflicted. The victim may have not been a victim at all. Rather, perhaps he had punched out a window causing the wound.
The woman in custody was released and police hurriedly rolled up the crime scene tape. No one was charged with any crime.
“Luckily, we learned there was nothing to it, nothing at all,” police said. The initial 9-1-1 call was received at 11:53 p.m. Friday night.
