Jury Finds Former Cop Guilty on all Counts

 

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The jury in former police officer Derek Chauvin's murder trial returned guilty verdicts on all three counts Tuesday afternoon according to reports. 

Chauvin is white and was found guilty in the murder of George Floyd, a black man with a criminal history.  Chauvin was accused of police brutality by kneeling on Floyd's neck until he was dead in an infamous video which sparked riots and protests around the world and even in San Angelo. 

The jury found Chauvin guilty of second degree murder which carries a 40 year maximum prison sentence, third degree murder which carries a 25 year maximum sentence and second degree manslaughter which carries a maximum 10 year prison sentence.  

The judge ordered the sentencing phase of the trial to begin in eight weeks.  Chauvin will remain in custody until he is sentenced.

It was first degree murder. But well done, anyway. Chauvain looked scary sitting in court.
