Midland Man Found with Gun Near the White House

 

MIDLAND, TX – A 37-year-old Midland man has been detained in Washington D.C. after asking for information on the Oval Office. The man was found in possession of a gun and a substantial amount of ammunition.

According to D.C. Police, the suspect was identified as Santiago V. Macias of Midland.

According to law enforcement, a police officer was on bicycle patrol when he was flagged down by Macias. along Constitution Avenue NW.

Macias was sitting in a black pickup truck and asked if he could park on the street. He then told the officer he needed information about the Oval Office.

During their interaction, the officer noticed Macias had a firearm holster mounted under the truck’s dashboard. When the officer asked Macias if he had a firearm in the vehicle, he said yes.

After the officer called for backup, Macias was detained and his vehicle was searched. Officers then located a pistol, two loaded magazines, and 79 rounds of ammunition.

Macias told police he spoke little English and was provided a translator. 

Macias was arrested for carrying a pistol without a license, unlawful possession of a firearm, unregistered ammunition, and unlawful transport of a firearm.
