Suspect Indicted for Brutal Attempted Murder in San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury in December for attempted Murder.

According to court documents, during the December indictments, a Tom Green County grand jury indicted Jake Gonzales, 37, for the attempted murder of Andrew Jones on March 5, 2017.

The indictment came after Gonzales and Michael Sanchez, 35, beat up Jones by hitting and kicking him in a brutal attack. During a 2017 court hearing Sanchez admitted to stabbing Jones as well.

The district attorney's office says that Gonzales attempted to murder Jones during the assault but was unsuccessful.

In 2018 Sanchez pleaded guilty to aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon which got him 28 years in prison and $38,308.70 in restitution.

Gonzales has a prior arrested for possession of marijuana of four ounces. During the arrest he was in possession of a digital scale. He was later put of probation for that but failed to complete it.
