Former Customs Agent Kills Former Police Officer in Retirement Community Shootout

 

KERRVILLE, TX – The Texas Rangers are currently investigating a shootout between a former Customs Agent and a retired police officer.

According to a press release, on Dec. 14, at approximately 3:41 p.m, the Kerr County Sheriff's office responded to a call for shots fired in the 500 block of Honor Drive., located in the Horizon Subdivision. A private gated community located in the southwest part of Kerr County, just outside of the Kerrville city limits.

Upon arrival, Deputies discovered that there had been a verbal disturbance between two residents in the subdivision. The disturbance led to both residents pulling guns and exchanging gunfire. Deceased is Mart Hanna, 68 years of age and a retired Houston Police Officer. The second resident is identified as Kenneth Brown, 71 years of age and a retired US Customs Officer, was not injured.

The investigation is being conducted by the Kerr County Sheriff's office with the assistance of the Texas Rangers. No arrests have been made at this time. As with the death investigation, the results will be referred to a Grand Jury.
