Border Patrol Agents Seize Over 700 lbs of That Green Leafy Substance

LAREDO, TX – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Freer Station checkpoint foiled an attempt to smuggle marijuana into the country west of Freer, Texas.

The attempt occurred during the late evening of November 15, when a tractor-trailer approached the checkpoint.  During an immigration inspection of the driver, a service canine alerted to the vehicle.  The driver, a Mexican national, was referred to secondary inspection where agents discovered several taped bundles of marijuana inside the trailer.

The bundles had a total weight of 737 pounds with an approximate street value of $589,604.  Investigation into the case was turned over to Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration who took custody of the narcotics and seized the tractor and trailer.
