The following day the San Angelo Police Department issued a public notice explaining that they were aware of the situation. They also asked the public to stop harassing the lady who was accused.
“We appreciate the community’s concern for this investigation and we are attempting to conduct a thorough, unbiased, and expedient investigation into the allegations in the interest of justice," stated the SAPD in a press release. "The investigating Detective has been receiving calls from people with no first hand knowledge and some from out of state. This takes time away from actually conducting the investigation."
SAPD also asked for harassment to stop due to the amount of posts on social media.
The San Angelo Police Department never arrested the woman for the accusations.
Then on Oct. 7, a Tom Green County Grand Jury indicted 81-year-old Sarah Howell for cruelty to non-livestock that killed an animal.
She was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail on Nov. 10 at 2:05 p.m. Her bond is set at $7,500.
