Illegal Alien Convicted Murderer Arrested Again

SPOFFORD, Texas U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Brackettville Station arrest a convicted murderer hiding on a train, Aug. 20.

Border Patrol agents assigned to the Brackettville Station were contacted by Union Pacific Rail Road officials regarding a possible unauthorized passenger near Spofford. Agents in the area began a search of the train and successfully located an individual hiding between two rail cars.  Agents performed an immigration inspection, later identified as Leonardo Matias Carrasco, a 44-year-old Mexican national, and determined the subject entered the United States illegally. During processing, it was discovered that Carrasco was convicted of murder in Tennessee Colony, Texas in 1998. He was sentenced to five years of incarceration. Carrasco was removed from the United States through Hidalgo, Texas in 2002.

Carrasco faces a charge of 8 USC § 1326 – Re-entry After Deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.

All individuals arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure those with criminal history or gang affiliations are positively identified.
