Kidnapping Suspect Booked Into the Tom Green County Jail

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — After surrendering his 14-year-old son Klay, Matthew Gonzales is being held at the Tom Green County Jail. 

Last week Gonzales was identified as the suspect in an AMBER Alert issued for Klay. According to authorities Guzman took his son and fled his estranged wife from her home in Colorado City in the early morning hours Friday.

According to Colorado City PD, Guzman allegedly talked his way into his estranged wife’s home and then chocked her.

Since the AMBER Alert was issued SAPD was on the lookout for Guzman as he has ties to San Angelo. On Saturday, Guzman surrendered Klay to authorities.

Klay was found in good health and was turned over to family.

Guzman is currently facing three charges: 

  • Aggravated Kidnapping Facilitate
  • Assault Fam/House Mem Impede Breath/Circulation
  • Interference with Child Custody

Guzman’s bond has been set at $72,000.
