Man Barricades Himself Inside Apartment With Elderly Woman

 

MIDLAND, TX — A 42-year-old Midland man was taken into custody after he allegedly barricaded himself with an elderly woman.

According to CBS7, Midland PD was called to the apartments at 3600 North Midland Drive early Friday morning.

Officers arrived at the scene around 1:15 a.m. and found Bacilio Mendoza beating on the wall with a hammer. Mendoza became agitated when he spotted the officers and then barricaded himself inside the apartment.

Police soon learned an elderly woman was inside the apartment and the suspect would not allow her to leave. The suspect eventually allowed the woman to safely exit the apartment.

The Midland Police Department SWAT team and negotiators also responded to the scene. After the woman left the apartment the SWAT team send two rounds of gas inside the apartment and the suspect exited.

Mendoza was arrested and charged with felony unlawful restraint and resisting arrest. No one was injured during the incident.
