Affidavit: Suspect Threatened to Shoot People Before He Shot At Police Officers

ODESSA, TX - The Odessa Police Department has released the affidavit that details the minutes before Lonnie Troy Worthington shot at two OPD officers.

According to CBS7, as Worthington was leaving the club he told his wife he would come back and shoot people he had "engaged in a disturbance" with earlier in the evening.

After the couple left, the police arrived at the club to speak with witnesses about the disturbance.

When the couple arrived at their home, the suspect grabbed his handgun from the bedroom and began walking back to the club.

When he returned to the club Worthington shot at least two rounds at the club from a spot where he could see the officers and witnesses. He then allegedly called his wife and said that he was hiding his gun behind a nearby 7-Eleven before he walked home.

Officers located the gun behind the convenience store and when they attempted to arrest him at his home they were involved in a short standoff with Worthington before he was apprehended.

The 48-year-old was charged with two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant.
