MIDLAND, TX – After the cities of Midland and Odessa were the victims of bank robberies, the Texas Department of Public Safety launched an investigation as they searched for the suspect.
On Thursday, December 26, Midland Police Department responded to a bank robbery call at My Community Federal Credit Union shortly after 11:00 a.m. Police say the suspect presented a note to a bank teller and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Later that same day, at around 3:00 p.m., Odessa Police Department responded to a bank robbery call at the Frost Bank on North Texas St. The suspect of this robbery had followed the same pattern as the first incident, handing the teller a note and then leaving with cash.
The suspect was described as s clean-shaven white man in his mid-20's, weighing 160 to 170 pounds, and 5'8" to 5'10" tall. He was wearing a black button-up shirt, tan pants, grayish-blue jacket with two stripes on one sleeve and sunglasses during the robberies.
As they investigated the incidents, Troopers were able to identify Wyatt Hambrick,21, as the possible suspect. Shortly before 6:00 p.m., DPS located Hambrick at a rest stop in Midland.
The 21-year-old was charged and arrested for the robberies and is currently being held in federal custody in Midland.
