SAN ANGELO, TX -- A man was booked into the Tom Green County Jail yesterday after he was indicted by a Tom Green County Grand Jury for continuously molesting a child under the age of 14.
According to the Indictment, in the July Term of the 119 the district court the Grand Jurors of Tom Green County indicted Michael Smith, 34, for multiple counts including continuous sexual abuse of a child.
The indictment came after a child made an outcry for help due to her being sexually assaulted. Assistant District Attorney Ashley Knight says that the acts started in August of 2014.
During the first engagement, Smtih is accused of touching the child's genitals, making her touch his genitals, and finally sexually assaulting the child.
Other times included his touching the child's breast, him exposing himself to the child, and making the child expose herself to him.
Smith is facing charges of First Degree Felony Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under the Age of 14-Years of Age, Second Degree Felony Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact, Third Degree Felony Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact, and Third Degree Felony Indecency with a Child by Exposure.
All of these charges are enhanced due to Smith having a prior felony of Burglary of a Habitation.
He is currently in the Tom Green County Jail. His bond is set at $110,000 and if he is released he can have no contact with the victim.
