Texas Rangers Called in After Officers Shoot and Hospitalize Suicidal Subject

 

MIDLAND, TX -- The Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate an incident that left a man hospitalized. 

According to the Midland Reporter Telegram, on August 3, the Midland Police Department were dispatched to the 2900 block of Purple Sage Trail for the report of an armed suicidal subject. 

When they arrived the man stepped out of the house with a rifle and officers shot and wounded the man. 

DPS Sgt. Oscar Villareal says that the man is in in critical condition but is stable. 

The suspect is facing a charge of aggravated assault on a public servant, a first-degree felony.

The names of the officers involved in the shooting and the suspect have not been released. The Texas Rangers are investigating the incident.
