Doctor's License Suspended after Found in Possession of Lewd Images of Children

 

ODESSA, TX -- The Texas Medical Board has suspended the license of a suspected child predator Tuesday. 

According to CBS7, on February 9 Bing Images reached out the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for a tip on a computer they believed that downloaded child pornography. 

A little over a month later the IP address from the first downloads obtained three more images depicting young children. 

This is when authorities decided to trace the address back to the computer of 62-year-old Dr. Paul Coleman. 

On June 10 a search warrant was executed at Coleman's house. The computer was searched and various terms for searching child pornography was found. 

While in custody Coleman told authorities that he did not believe that there was anything wrong with looking at images as long as he did not hurt a child. When authorities asked Coleman if he had intentionally searched for images depicting child pornography he said that he did not want to answer.

He was arrested and booked into the Ector County Jail and was released on a $30,000 bond. 

Since then the Odessa Regional Medical Center has terminated him from their Pathology department. On July 23 the Texas Medical Board suspended temporarily suspended, without notice, the Texas medical license of Paul H. Coleman, M.D. (Lic. No. H5757), after determining his continuation in the practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare. The suspension was effective immediately.

The temporary suspension remains in place until the Board takes further action.

He is charged with 

Paul Coleman, 62, has been charged with Possession or Promotion of Child Pornography, a 3rd Degree Felony.

Ector County Jail Records show he was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Marijuana.
