SAN ANGELO, TX — Overnight, what was rumored to be the suspect or person of interest was involved in a crash at the intersection of E. 40th St. and Blum St.
According to sources and eyewitness reports, the crash happened at around midnight and an occupant of the vehicle fled on foot with a dozen San Angelo police officers in pursuit. We heard the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Deputies were searching for the suspect too, but he got away.
The crash was cleared by the time our reporter arrived at the scene, but evidence of the crash remained this morning (see photos above).
About 15 hours earlier, on Tuesday morning at 3:40 a.m., police were called to the 600 block of E. 39th Street and found a man severely injured. According to police, 26-year-old Kristian Rose of San Angelo was conscious but non-responsive.
Police administered first aid until San Angelo Fire Department medics arrived. Despite efforts to save Rose’s life, he died at the scene. Police said he was suffering from an “undetermined” injury.
Justice of the Peace Eddie Howard pronounced Rose dead and ordered an autopsy that is being conducted at the South Plains Forensic Pathology Center in Lubbock.
Police did not indicate they are investigating a homicide.
There is no official confirmation about who police were chasing overnight or why so many officers were involved. Was this person who ran from the crash overnight wanted for questioning in the death investigation of Kristian Rose?
