Police Surround Alleyway with Crime Scene Tape in Death Investigation

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo police are conducting what police spokeswoman Tracy Piatt-Fox described as a “death” investigation in north San Angelo. She did not call it a homicide or a murder, although crime scene tape is draped across an alleyway, blocking off an entire block of the alley.

Police Crime Scene Investigators and detectives are seen interviewing neighbors. What could be the family of the deceased person are in front of their residence.

Small orange cones were placed on the ground in the alleyway by police investigators marking evidence.

WATCH: Crime scene investigation:

The crime scene is in the alleyway between 38th and 39th Streets and Bonham and Bowie Streets.

So far police are cautious not to call this a homicide.

San Angelo was rocked last month by three murders at two crime scenes. The two crime scenes and actions were unrelated.

Gabriel James Ortiz, Sr. was accused by police of murder after the victim, 28-year-old San Angelo resident Ernesto Hernandez, was found dead in a backyard with multiple gunshot wounds on March 19

In the next day’s early morning hours, Jared Lohse and Jack “Chubby” Harris were shot and killed in a house that was burned after the suspected murders on N. Chadbourne St. Dwayne Chance Chadwick, 36, was arrested by police and accused of the double murder. Shannon McGhee was mentioned in Chadwick’s arrest affidavit in connection with the house fire but was arrested on drug charges.

Update 6:30 p.m.: Police identified the man who died but have not classified the investigation as a homicide. More here.
