I applaud Joe Hyde for bringing San Angelo Live to life and in all essence, basically shutting down the Standard Times. In the very beginning, Joe had reporters on his staff that got out and beat the bushes and submitted great news articles for the Concho Valley readers to enjoy. The Standard-Times reporters just lackadaisically sat behind their computer screens and copied stories that came off the AP wire and reported those to the public and were either too lazy to go report, or ignored local news happenings.
I am very disheartened in San Angelo live after watching and reading the stories the last few months that are basically been being reported just like the Standard-Times reporters used to. It seems here lately, we are more well-versed on what goes on in Odessa, Abilene and surrounding areas with their news stories and the only reporting here being only local sports playoff's making our headlines. Though that is important, I guarantee there is local news stories out there that get rolled into the local police happenings blotter which basically lists only offenses committed and no real news surrounding the happenings that readers expect to recieve from a news source.
Come on Joe, you are better than this and need fireballs on your staff like you had in the beginning.
