Cops Find 50 Pounds of Pot and some Meth in Traffic Stop

 

ABILENE, TX -- With the assistance of the Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol and the Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division, Abilene Police Department located 50 pounds of marijuana while conducting a traffic stop today. 

The driver, Nicole Lynn Ortiz, age 29, along with the passenger, Justin Adrian Maldonado, age 24, got charged with third degree felony possession of marijuana.

Abilene Police Department also reported they found methamphetamine on the driver as well. 

During the investigation, a K-9 unit was called out which is when they located 50 pounds of marijuana hidden throughout the car. The street value of the drugs is estimated at around $225,000. 

Officers say these drugs were believed to be meant for distribution to Abilene. 

Ortiz's bond has been set at $15,000 and Maldonado's bond is set at $10,000.
