Accused Child Molester May Take a Plea Deal Tuesday Morning Avoiding a Jury Trial

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- A San Angelo man accused of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact 12 years ago had his jury trial cancelled and agreed to make a plea in the case Tuesday morning.  

51-year-old Oscar Guzman is accused of sexually assaulting a female younger than 14 on two separate occasions months apart in 2004.  

Court records indicate Guzman was indicted by a Tom Green County Grand Jury in November of 2015 on one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child by sexual contact.  

Aggravated sexual assault of a child is a first degree felony punishable by 5 to 99 years or life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Indecency with a child by sexual conduct is a second degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Oscar Guzman is scheduled to be in District Court in the Tom Green County Courthouse Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m.
