LAREDO, TX -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers recently seized a significant amount of alleged cocaine carrying an estimated street value of more than $1,000,000 in one enforcement action over the weekend.
The seizure occurred on Sunday, July 23 at the Lincoln-Juarez International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 1995 Viaggio commercial bus for further inspection. Upon a canine and non-intrusive inspection of the commercial bus by CBP officers, a total of 55 packages allegedly containing 147 pounds of cocaine was discovered. The contraband carries an estimated street value of $1,136,960.
CBP officers seized the narcotics and the case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
