Rivas Jr. Headed to Prison for 25 Years after taking a Plea Deal

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – A 26-year-old San Angelo man was sentenced to 25 years in prison today after taking a plea deal on a number of charges including Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance. 

Manuel Justin Rivas Jr. appeared in Judge Brad Goodwin’s courtroom on a felony motion to revoke deferred adjudication and three other counts including Possession of Methamphetamine, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and the Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance charge.

Rivas was sentenced to two years for his motion to revoke, two years for the Unauthorized Use of Vehicle charge and two years for his Possession charge. 

As for his Manufacture and Deliver charge, Rivas was sentenced to 25 years in prison. 

During the court proceedings, Rivas was fined $500 and ordered to pay $180 restitution on three counts.

Rivas was arrested by San Angelo Police in July of 201 for  driving a stolen vehicle. At the time, drugs and a gun were located inside the vehicle by police officers when Rivas was stopped in the 1800 block of Junius St. 

The original charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon was dropped.
