Arrests: More Unwanted Walmart ‘Shoppers,’ Forgery, Burglary and Juvenile Evaders

SAN ANGELO, TX – Over the weekend, local law enforcement arrested 65 people on a variety of offenses. Unfortunately, two local Walmart stores got hit again with shoplifters; more forgeries took place; one church got burglarized; and a few juveniles committed crimes and tried to evade police.

On Sunday, Bobby Banda, 25, went to the Tom Green County Jail for Theft Class C and Public Intoxication. San Angelo Police officials said, at around 6:20 p.m., officers dispatched to the Walmart located on W. 29th St. for the report of a civil disturbance.

Banda has a history of burglary, theft, drugs, alcohol and family violence. This is his 27th arrest in Tom Green County.

It was a bad Sunday for Walmart unfortunately. At around 5:30 p.m., SAPD dispatched to the store on Sherwood Way for the report of a shoplifter. Olga Borrego, 46, was arrested for Theft of Property >=$100<$750.

In September 2016, Borrego was arrested for the exact same charge. This is her 2nd arrest in TGC.

In another incident on Friday, at around 1:40 p.m., Wesley Shawn Burns, 33, was arrested for Forgery Financial Instruments and outstanding warrants after police dispatched to Prosperity Bank, 4109 S. College Hills Blvd., for the report of a forgery in progress.

This is Burns’ 3rd arrest in TGC.

In addition to these individuals, a few young people had run-ins with SAPD, even though they tried hard to evade officers.

On Saturday, at 7:40 a.m., SAPD attempted to stop Fransisco Pena, 21, for reckless driving, but he fled.

“He was located later and taken into custody,” SAPD said.

Pena was arrested for both Reckless Driving and Evading Arrest Detention w/Vehicle.

In addition to Pena, two 16-year-old juveniles were arrested over the weekend, one for Assault Bodily Injury, and the other for Criminal Trespass and Evading Arrest Detention.

For the second case, police, at around 11:30 p.m. (day not noted), dispatched to S. Chadbourne St. and E. Concho Ave in regards to a burglary in progress.

Police arrested the 16-year-old juvenile for Criminal Trespass and evading police. They arrested a 14-year-old juvenile for the same crimes, and for resisting arrest. The 14-year-old was also issued a citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Saturday, a 13-year-old male also attempted to evade arrest at 3:30 a.m. and went to jail. He was stopped for curfew violation.

Sadly, a 12-year-old juvenile female also made the arrest list for Assault Family Violence.

Overall, out of the 65 arrests, 32 people went to the TGCJ for outstanding warrants, 28 for new crimes, and five for both (Please note: Juvenile arrests are not tallied into this number).
