Drugs, Alcohol, Invalid Licenses and Resisting/Evading Arrests Top New Year Weekend Crimes

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – Over the holiday weekend, local law enforcement arrested 72 people on a variety of crimes. The crimes to top the new year weekend included drugs, alcohol, driving with invalid licenses and resisting and evading arrests.

Overall, 34 people went to the Tom Green County Jail for new crimes, 25 for outstanding warrants, and 13 people had both new complaints and warrants.

Of course, drugs topped the overall list. Twelve people went to jail for possession of marijuana, five people for possession/delivery of drug paraphernalia, and 13 arrestees had possession of controlled substances.

As for alcohol-related offenses, five people went to the TGCJ for public intoxication, three for DWI, one for open container, and one for minor in consumption of alcohol.

Additionally, over the weekend, law enforcement arrested eight people for driving with invalid licenses. Three people also resisted arrest, and two arrestees tried to evade police.

  • Theft Property: 1
  • Assault Class C Family Violence: 1
