SAPD Continue to Investigate Shooting on W. Avenue O

SAN ANGELO, TX - Today, the San Angelo Police Department is continuing its investigation into a shooting that occurred last night in the unit block of W. Avenue O (see our original story here).

Public Information Officer Tracy Gonzalez said, just before 9:30 p.m., SAPD officers were dispatched to the residence for the report of a shooting.

"Officers arrived and located a 31-year-old San Angelo man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound," said Gonzalez. "Officers provided first aid to the victim until Fire Department Medics arrived. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries."

Gonzalez added that Crime Scene Investigations and Criminal Investigations responded to the scene to further investigate.

She said, "It was discovered that a Hispanic male assaulted and shot the victim in front of the victim’s residence then stole a red 1991 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck the victim had been operating.  After the shooting, the victim went to a neighbor’s house for help."

Physical evidence of the shooting was located at the crime scene. The suspect is still at large; however, investigators are pursuing several leads.

If anyone has information about the shooting or the suspect's identity, or whereabouts, please call Crime Stoppers of San Angelo.

"Tipsters will remain anonymous," Gonzalez stated. "You can call the Anonymous 24-Hour Tip Hotline at 325-658-HELP; submit a web-tip at www.sanangelocrimestoppers.com or download the App 'P3 Tips.'"
