One-Armed Robbery Suspect Now Charged with Sexual Assault

Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for the San Angelo Police Department, said today that charges for Bolivar Newkirk, 38, have changed.

On July 3, Newkirk was arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery after an incident that occurred at Lowe’s Grocery Store, 1926 N Bryant Blvd. Newkirk assaulted a 25-year-old female inside the women’s restroom.

"Subsequent to the ongoing investigation, the original charge was dropped and Newkirk was charged with Sexual Assault," said Gonzalez.

She added that the warrant for Sexual Assault was obtained on July 5, 2016, while Newkirk was still in custody at the Tom Green County Jail.
