SAISD Offers Counseling and Increases Security at Lake View After This Weekend's Shooting

Over the weekend, two teenage boys were shot in a drive-by shooting on 22nd and Main Streets. One of the teens died while another was transported to Shannon Medical Center. The incident may be gang related, said Sgt. Cade Solsbery, public information officer for the San Angelo Police Department.

Yesterday, Sgt. Solsbery, said no updates were forthcoming; however, this morning San Angelo LIVE! learned there were efforts to increase security at Lake View High School in case of possible gang retaliation. The two victims had ties to the high school.

"The two students who were involved in this tragedy are students who were enrolled with us in the past," said Jamie Highsmith, public information officer for the San Angelo Independent School District.

Highsmith added that Superintendent Dr. Carl Dethloff and district leaders have been in constant communication with SAPD's Chief Tim Vasquez and Assistant Chief of Investigations Robert Martinez over the weekend.

"We are grateful for the SAPD’s quick response to support our campuses," Highsmith said. "District counselors are on stand-by and several have been dispatched to serve the campuses in need. Due to the nature of this tragic event, SAISD and the SAPD are providing increased security to ensure as normal a routine and schedule as possible."

Just curious why we didn't get a follow-up on the sentencing for this case? Where is the justice? I think we all deserve to know.

Everyone involved in the prosecution of this case has been payed off by the defending attorneys and Jamie Tankersley's family. Everyone knows how that goes. God will judge these poor souls and Jamie Tankersley will forever live with this issue. I hope that she screws up and breaks probation and even then she gets let off easy. I wish I could be her probation officer. I would make her life miserable sense the justice system failed to do the right thing.
