Two People Shot, One Dies in Drive By Shooting in North San Angelo

 

At this time, San Angelo Police officers are searching for the suspect (s) in a shooting close to Main and 22nd Streets. Police reported that two people were shot in the head. One of the victims died at the scene, while the other victim is currently being treated at Shannon Hospital.

At approximately 9:45 p.m., the call came in. People in the area reported hearing five shots, and one person said a gray Avalanche sped away from the scene. This is the vehicle officers are currently looking for. A two-block perimeter from Main to Bradford, and from 22nd to 20th Streets, have been established.

Officers are currently interviewing witnesses, and they're redirecting traffic.

Update 10:49 p.m.

The victim who is being treated at Shannon Hospital is 16 years old. At this time, SAPD officials are talking to the family of the victim killed in the incident.

Update Mar. 27, 1:10 a.m.

Sgt. Cade Solsbery said that police were called to a shooting incident at 9:46 p.m. in the 1100 block of E. 22nd St.

Upon arrival, police found two victims of gunshot wounds. One had died at the scene; the other was rushed to Shannon Medical Center. Both victims were male, Solsbery said.

“Investigators are following multiple leads on who did the shooting,” said Solsbery.

There have been no arrests.

“I don’t think anyone is in danger in the area,” Solsbery said. “This was a specific incident that is not a general threat”

It may be gang-related, Solsbery said.

The shooting victim who survived was in surgery earlier Saturday evening, He did not have information on the surviving victim’s current condition. Solsbery confirmed that he was alive.

Solsbery said that police investigators are being tight-lipped on details early in the investigation, but they may release more information tomorrow or Monday morning.

Detective Carlton Kolbe is leading the investigation.

San Angelo Police Department Public Information Officer Cade Solsbery stated that SAPD has no updates ready for release on Saturday night's shooting incident.

"No danger"? It was a drive-by shooting. Bystanders could have been hurt, or worse. This is not a problem we need in San Angelo. We need the gangs out of this city, before this escalates.
