Drugs, High Speed Chases and Forgery Top the Booking Reports for Today

Since yesterday, 22 people have taken the opportunity to check into the Tom Green County Jail, primarily for drugs. Out of those arrests, nine were new complaints. However, two individuals decided to make things interesting for law enforcement by leading the San Angelo Police in a vehicle chase and by forging government documents.

At about 11 p.m. yesterday evening, Officer K. Green from SAPD initiated a traffic stop on a red 1996 Jeep Cherokee for a defective license plate light in the 1000 block of Martin Luther King Dr.

Sgt. Cade Solsbery, public information officer for SAPD, said the driver ignored Green’s lights and sirens and aggressively tried to get away at a high rate of speed. The driver of the red jeep went north on N. Bryant Blvd. from 14th Street driving at approximately 70 mph. The driver eventually pulled into a parking lot in the 2400 block of N. Bryant where the driver, a 15-year-old juvenile male, was taken into custody without incident.

Solsbery said there was a 17-year-old passenger, Ivan Alvarez, who had outstanding warrants and was transported to the Tom Green County Jail for booking. The juvenile driver was transported to the Juvenile Justice Center where he was booked for Evading in a Motor Vehicle.

Earlier in the afternoon Monday, at approximately 12 p.m., SAPD officers were also dispatched to San Juan’s Taqueria Y Tamaleria where Macy Watson, 23, was attempting to pay for food with counterfeit money. She was arrested and taken to TGCJ and booked for Forgery Govt./National Gov. Instr/Moneys.

In addition to the above mentioned, below are other crimes that initiated new complaint arrests:

  • Public Intoxication – 1
  • Possession/Del drugs/marijuana and paraphernalia – 4
  • Driving with invalid License – 1
  • Failure to ID Fugitive from Justice – 2
