The San Angelo Police Department, Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office and the Tom Green County Jail experienced a busy weekend full of the typical public intoxication, DWI, possession of marijuana, controlled substances and theft. Not to mention, a felon with a firearm and family violence kept law enforcement officers on their toes.
Overall, there were a total of 66 arrests. Out of that 66, 32 of those arrests were new complaints. The top crime for the weekend goes to public intoxication with eight arrests.
Additionally, one felon, Tommy M. Fiveash, 28, with a total of 20 arrests, including the one from this weekend, found himself booked once more in the Tom Green County Jail Saturday night.
According to Sgt. Cade Solsbery, public information officer with the San Angelo Police Department, Officer C. Barker conducted a traffic stop on 29th and Bowie Streets for failing to signal a turn at 100 continuous feet.
During the stop, a search of Fiveash’s vehicle was initiated because of the smell of marijuana, Solsbery stated. During the search, the officer found methamphetamine in Fiveash’s pocket and a handgun underneath one of the seats that came back reported stolen.
“It had been reported stolen from the Dallas Airport Police,” Solsbery noted. Fiveash was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Theft of a Firearm since it was reported stolen by the Dallas Airport Police. He is being held on a total bond of $25,000.
“It all started because officers smelled marijuana in the vehicle,” Solsbery stated.
This weekend was also another weekend for family assaults, which Solsbery said happens in waves and seem to happen all at once. On Sunday alone, there were four assaults on family members.
