U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Eagle Pass South Station apprehended a convicted sex offender who had been previously deported, said a press release Friday.
According to the press release, on Dec. 3, agents near a local ranch in Eagle Pass apprehended Julio Caceres-Paz, 33, a previously deported Salvadoran national. During processing, agents discovered that Caceres-Paz was a convicted sex offender, and that records revealed he was convicted in Harris County in 2011 for indecency with a child. Caceres-Paz was sentenced to a three-year confinement and subsequently deported in 2013.
“Our Border Patrol agents’ efforts and unwavering commitment to the mission of protecting our nation’s borders demonstrate great diligence and perseverance,” said Chief Patrol Agent Rodolfo Karisch of the Del Rio Sector. “Their outstanding efforts allow us to keep our communities safe.”
Caceres-Paz faces a charge of illegal re-entry after deportation, which carries a possible sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
During fiscal year 2015 and to date, the Del Rio Sector agents have apprehended six previously deported sex offenders.
