11 arrest for alcohol related offenses , it seems like you can't go any where in san nagelo without running into drunks , this includes our in town beautiful city parks . These parks are for all of the citizens of san angelo , not just for a few drunks who like to sit in the parks and ruin family outings and picnics . There are laws against public intoxication , but these have to be enforced , police officers are already working hard to keep crime down in san angelo, they have better things to do ,catching murder suspects , rapist , child molesters , thieves , and drunk drivers , they do a fine job . If they answer a call for an intoxicated person in the park , they still have to check to make sure that the person is indeed intoxicated . That takes a lot of time , arrest , booking , incarceration , and court . I pose this question wouldn't it be easier to ban the consumption of alcohol in the local parks ( not including the local lakes ) . This would save the taxpayers a lot of money . The people who consume alcohol would go else where . There are plenty of night clubs and bars in town or heaven forbid their own homes . I have no problem with special events sponsored by the city , the drunks do not participate in these events . I call on the 4000 plus people , that were at the rally , to back me up on this issue , call your city council person , or call the mayor . This will only affect a few individuals , but it will make it a safer , more wholesome , place for every one . Again i compliment the park crews for keeping the parks beautiful and well maintained , they do a super job ! See you at the park .
