FORT WORTH, Texas – U.S. Attorney John Parker of the Northern District of Texas announced Wednesday that a former correctional officer at the Federal Correctional Institute (FCI) in Fort Worth pleaded guilty this morning in federal court to one count of sexual abuse with a ward, said a press release.
According to the release, Rudy Ramon, 54, of Grand Prairie, Texas, entered his plea before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeffrey L. Cureton, and faced a maximum statutory penalty of 15 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. Ramon will remain on bond pending sentencing, which is set for Feb. 8, 2016, before U.S. Judge Terry R. Means.
The documents filed in the case explained that on the first or second Sunday of November 2014, Ramon engaged in a sex act with an inmate assigned to FCI Fort Worth. The inmate, at the time of the sex act, was under the custodial, supervisory, or disciplinary authority of Ramon, a Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) correctional officer.
The release noted that the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General is conducting the investigation into this case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Poe is prosecuting.
