Police: Standoff Suspect in Custody, ID'd

 

A man accused of assaulting a woman this morning, holding her at gunpoint and then holing himself up in a house for hours in a standoff with San Angelo police has been apprehended and transported to the Tom Green County Jail.

Sgt. Cade Solsbery said the suspect, 35-year-old Anastacio Alberto Govea, surrendered peacefully this afternoon after police surrounded a residence in the 2200 block of Poe St. and urged him to come out via loudspeaker.

Solsbery stated Govea will be charged with aggravated assault against a family/household member with a deadly weapon. Further information on the initial assault is pending investigation, and will be provided as facts are gathered. 

Govea has a lengthy criminal history in Tom Green County, including multiple charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
