Post-Superbowl Shooting Sends One to Hospital

 

Crime scene tape is pulled across the thoroughfare from 100 feet each direction from Eva’s Place, 1002 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. According to reports, a shooting happened there shortly after the Superbowl ended.

EMS arrived at the scene and performed CPR on presumably the shooting victim and rushed the victim to Shannon Medical Center as soon as the patient was stabilized.

By 9:45 p.m., a few bystanders remained in front of the bar. Several police units were there, and detectives were seen walking around the crime scene writing down notes in notebooks and comparing observations. Some police were interviewing the bystanders.

Inside the crime scene was a vehicle that police were seen photographing.

Meanwhile, additional investigators headed to Shannon and presumably hope to interview the victim.

Crime Scene Investigations arrived at the scene just before 10 p.m.

MLK Blvd. was closed to through traffic.

We will update this story as soon as more information is available.

Update 10:23 p.m.

Our reporter at the scene confirmed that the victim was a female. Police are placing orange cones in ordered fashion in the middle of MLK as part of the reconstruction of what happened.

Update 10:35 p.m.

The crime scene has been expanded to include the entire 1000 block of MLK Blvd.

Update 10:45 p.m.

The Spokesperson for the San Angelo Police Department Tracy Gonzalez said that police responded to a "shots fired" incident reported via a 911 call at 9:11 p.m. at Eva's Place, 1002 MLK Blvd. "This is an active investigation and Criminal Investigations Division is on the scene," Gonzalez said. Police did not release more information. They said that more information will be released Monday morning.

Update 11:30 p.m.

Eight minutes after the 911 call for the incident at Eva's Place, another 911 call reporting a reckless driver was reported from the 2000 block of Smith Blvd at the Houston Harte Expressway. Then, at 9:29 p.m. there was a hit-and-run crash reported at the 500 block of N. Main St. Police pursued the hit-and-run suspect to the 500 block of Kennedy where the driver was apprehended and taken into custody. Our reporter initially assumed the incidents were related, but police could not confirm, as it was early in the investigation. Here is the truck allegedly involved in the hit-and-run.
