Hastings Closed for the Next Hour Due to Smoke Smell

The odor of smoke has temporarily closed Hastings this afternoon, as crews survey electrical lines.

At approximately 9:46 a.m. the San Angelo Fire Department received a call for a structure fire located at the entertainment store. The store employees noticed the smell of smoke coming from the electrical room on the northwest side of the store, and immediately called the fire department.

Two fire trucks and ten personnel responded to what could have been a horrible electrical fire, but the crisis was adverted due to the swift actions of the store employees.

"There were no open flames. There's not alot of smoke or anything like that, just a little bit of a burn smell." Ross Coleman, San Angelo Fire Marshal stated.

Hastings will be closed for an undetermined amount of time, as electrical crews survey and repair damages.
