San Angelo Man Arrested After Fueled Crime Spree

There's a reason you have to pay before you pump. And if you've ever been even slightly irritated at the gas station when you intended to fill up and pay with cash, you can thank a slew of people like Alvie Paul Sisk Jr. for your inconvenience at the convenience store.

Sisk sure didn't have you or your Oma in mind on Monday when he stole over $1,400 worth of diesel from a Stripes in Ballinger, and he's probably not sorry that they're checking gas transactions extra thoroughly after his brief visit. But the good news is, he didn't make it far.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Ballinger Police notified surrounding law enforcement agencies about the theft and information was gleened that Sisk (36) fled the Stripes driving a silver Dodge Ram Pickup Truck.  The stolen fuel was reportedly in a large plastic container located in the bed of the truck.

After receiving information about the suspect and vehicle description, San Angelo Police Patrol Officers began searching areas of San Angelo Sisk was believed to have ties to.  Approximately one hour later, San Angelo Police Patrol Officer R. Francis spotted the suspected truck traveling in a residential neighborhood in east San Angelo.  When Officer Francis passed the truck, he recognized Sisk to be the driver.

Officer Francis initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle, which came to rest in the 1400 block of Culberson St. The driver was confirmed to be Sisk.  A plastic container, containing approximately 175 gallons of diesel fuel, was located in the bed of the truck.

During the detention, officers were informed that Ballinger Police obtained an Arrest Warrant for Sisk for Theft of Property <$1,500 Two or More Previous Convictions.  Police took Sisk into custody and transported him to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.  Sisk’s truck was towed from the scene due to the large amount of diesel fuel located inside the container.

This is an ongoing investigation.  Ballinger Police Department, Runnels County Sheriff, Tom Green County Sheriff, Texas DPS, Texas Comptroller, and the San Angelo Police Department’s Patrol and Criminal Investigations Divisions and Narcotics and Special Operations Sections assisted with this investigation.

Additional charges are pending from the State Comptroller Office.
