SAN ANGELO, TX — A sheriff’s deputy was seen escorting a San Angelo Fire Department ambulance from the scene of a rollover crash in the 9500 block of Grape Creek Road in Grape Creek.
Initial radio reports indicated that Shannon’s Airmed1 helicopter ambulance had been dispatched and was scheduled to land on the Grape Green High School football field. However, officials determined that transporting the crash victim by ambulance was quicker.
Tom Green County Sheriff’s deputies and the Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the scene just after 6 p.m. Preliminary reports stated that a man was thrown from a pickup truck involved in the rollover crash.
At the scene, first responders withheld further details, and vehicles were positioned to shield the wrecked gold Chevrolet pickup from public view.
