San Angelo House Fire Injures One, Space Heater Suspected Cause

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – A house fire in San Angelo late Wednesday night injured one person and destroyed a home, with investigators suspecting a space heater may have caused the blaze.

According to Fire Marshal Billy Clemons, firefighters responded to the fire at 417 E. Van Zandt St., where 26 personnel worked to contain the flames. The fire remains under investigation.

Authorities are working to confirm the cause and urge residents to exercise caution when using heating devices indoors.

The San Angelo Fire Marshal’s Office issued a reminder on space heater safety, advising residents to:

  • Follow manufacturer instructions.
  • Use heaters with automatic shut-off features.
  • Keep heaters at least three feet away from flammable materials.
  • Never leave heaters unattended.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is asking anyone with information about the fire to call 325-657-4358.
