Driver Crashes into Grape Creek Donut Shop, Business Closed

 

GRAPE CREEK, TX - An elderly driver was said to have disregarded a turn on Grape Creek Rd, leading to the driver crashing into a donut shop early this morning.

It happened around 5:30 a.m. We spoke to the owner, and the man facilitating the repair work. San Angelo LIVE! was told that the city has water turned off to the business, due to leaking pipes, thus halting operations.

The driver disregarded the turn, crashed into a fence, and then struck the Donut Palace in Grape Creek on Friday, Jan. 24.

At the scene, tire marks show the path of the driver disregarding the turn, plowing through a fence, and coming to a stop after striking the front end of the business. 

The family-owned business, by the name of Donut Palace, which opened in 2016, is hoping to be open in about three and a half weeks. 

Twin Mountain Fence and Wright Plumbing are helping with the repairs.

The crash was said to have compromised the structural integrity of the building, leading to a releveling job. Outside lighting and wiring were also compromised due to the crash. 

The community of Grape Creek was thanked for the longtime support, and the business hopes for a steadfast recovery. 

The donut shop is located at 8437 Grape Creek Rd. 

No injuries were reported.
