Three Children Struck by Cars in Separate Crashes in Odessa

 

ODESSA, TX — Three children were struck by vehicles in separate crashes on Monday, Dec. 16, near Odessa schools, according to police reports.

The first crash happened around 7:30 a.m. when Ector County ISD Police investigated an incident at Blackshear Elementary School. An 8-year-old boy was hit in the drop-off line as he exited a vehicle. He was injured and taken to a local hospital.

The next crash occurred just after 3:20 p.m. at the intersection of 51st Street and Tom Green Avenue. A black Chevrolet traveling southbound struck an 8-year-old girl who was crossing eastbound outside of a crosswalk. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An hour later, at 4:30 p.m., police responded to 22nd Street and Golder Avenue. An unknown vehicle turned southbound onto Golder, hitting a 14-year-old girl in a crosswalk as she attempted to walk eastbound. The driver fled the scene without rendering aid. The teen was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

All three crashes remain under investigation.
