MILES, TX – A piece of heavy machinery tipped over on Highway 67 Thursday afternoon, temporarily shutting down traffic in both directions near Miles.
This happened after a semi-truck reportedly pulled out in front of the truck carrying the equipment, forcing the driver to swerve into a ditch to avoid a collision.
The semi-truck driver fled the scene, according to witnesses.
No injuries were reported, but moving the overturned equipment required a crane. The crash blocked both northeast- and southwest-bound lanes, forcing drivers to take access roads while crews worked to clear the scene.
The wreck occurred sometime between 2 and 3 p.m. and caused delays as Highway 67 remained closed during recovery efforts.
Officials have not yet released further details about the incident or the semi-truck driver who fled.
