VIDEO: Helicopter Assists in Searching for Bailout Suspect after High Speed Pursuit

SAN ANGELO, TX — A high-speed chase through Irion County ended with a bailout and a suspect in handcuffs.

On Sunday, Nov. 24, 2024, around 4:20 p.m., scanner reports indicated that there was a high-speed chase on US 67 south heading towards San Angelo. The suspect was reaching speeds of over 100 m.p.h.

According to scanners, the San Angelo Police Department was tasked with setting up spike strips to stop the suspect’s white Buick SUV. The suspect ended up turning around and heading back towards the Irion County/Tom Green County line.

The driver, wearing all black, crashed near County Road 211 just inside Irion County and bailed out of the vehicle. This forced law enforcement to begin a manhunt in the area. Tom Green County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to assist the Department of Public Safety in locating the suspect and a scout helicopter was reported in the skies assisting as well.

A hunter saw a San Angelo LIVE! reporter at the scene and stated that the suspect was in handcuffs down County Road 211.
