Abilene Man Dies in Rollover Crash After Failing to Wear Seatbelt

COLEMAN, TX — An Abilene man who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt died instantly when his vehicle flipped on County Road 128 Friday night, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Mark Craig Niblett Jr., 36, was driving a 2013 Mazda 3 eastbound at high speed when he lost control on a curve, causing the car to slide off the road and overturn, landing on its roof. The crash, which happened around 7:50 p.m., left Niblett dead at the scene. Justice of the Peace Vicki Kemp pronounced him deceased.

Authorities noted the road was covered in sand, mud, and dirt, though weather conditions were clear.

The posted speed limit in the area is 60 miles per hour.

Trooper John P. Moody of the Texas Highway Patrol led the investigation, with assistance from Texas Highway Patrol’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and Coleman County deputies.
