UPDATE: Man Injured When Lawnmower Drives Off Embankment

CHRISTOVAL, TX – (UPDATE) An elderly man was located underneath a zero-turn lawnmower when emergency services were called.

According to Jimmy Barton with the Christoval Volunteer Fire Department, "The injured in Christoval was not a minor. An adult drove a zero-turn mower off an embankment."

The 911 caller said that her and her family were driving by and heard a man yelling for help. She said he was underneath a lawnmower.

In the original story that has since been updated, it was reported that a minor was injured after being struck by a lawnmower near the intersection of Main Street and Holland Street in Christoval this evening, according to scanner traffic.

It has been confirmed that a minor was not injured in the incident, but an elderly man.

It happened around 6:20 p.m., and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene.

Scanner traffic initially indicated an attempt to dispatch AirMed1 to the location. However, it was learned that the medical helicopter was stationed in Big Spring and would take an hour to arrive, leading to the air transport being disregarded.

Medics responded to the scene and transported the victim to Shannon Medical Center by ambulance, using lights and sirens. The severity of the victim's injuries remains unknown at this time.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
